Obama to give $3.4 billion in grants for smart grid

President Barack Obama on Tuesday will announce $3.4 billion in government grants to help build a “smart” electric grid that will save consumers money on their utility bills, reduce blackouts and carry power supplies generated by solar and wind energy

This post reminds me of two things:
1. People will do all that they can to make and save money and;
2. Government is the right instrument to do that.
I still think it’s a stretch though. All these houses would generate their electricity from a single source, making it a primary target for any harm-doer.

Although, I have to agree that this is actually a step closer to being self-sufficient. I think cutting off dependence from other countries when it comes to energy is a good thing. We also need to have a positive outlook when it comes to these things that are great in nature.

One day soon, Solar power will be affordable and useable in the same sentence, although those living in less than clement climates will still have to pay their bills for some time to come.
